In parallel with ICM programming, many other entities will be putting on events of general interest to attendees and leveraging visits by prominent mathematicians. Each edition of the ICM is an opportunity to compound the efforts of the world mathematics community.

It is with this engaging atmosphere that the ICM 2018 Executive Committee encourages the mathematics community to submit proposals for satellite conferences in all areas of mathematical research of current interest.

Proposals should be addressed to the Parallel Activities and Satellite Events Committee at satellites@icm2018.org, containing the following information:

• title, place and prospective period of the conference;
• organizing team and a corresponding person;
• brief description of the subject of the conference;
• scientific committee;
• expected list of speakers.

Proposals will be evaluated, with the assistance of ad hoc consultants, according to the following criteria:

• scientific quality and interest of the proposed topics of research;
• previous experience of the organizers;
• strong international projection, as attested by a good balance with regard to the participation of local and international experts;
• proximity with ICM 2018 in terms of scheduling.

Aiming at a more efficient evaluation process, there will be three distinct periods for submitting proposals:

P1 - from January 1st, 2015 to December, 18th, 2015
P2 - from March 1st, 2016 to December 23rd, 2016
P3 - from March 1st, 2017 to December 1st, 2017

Earlier submissions are warmly encouraged. Benefits include early decisions - notified as soon as their are reached - and priority on the theme of the Conference. The list of approved events will be posted at the ICM 2018 website by the end of the following February of each period.
